Tim Walz, Harris’ Running Mate, Emphasizes 'Bringing the Joy' in National Debut at DNC

 On the third day of the 2024 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, former President Bill Clinton took the stage to deliver a speech.

Clinton highlighted several key points, emphasizing that 50 million jobs had been created under Democratic leadership since the end of the Cold War, compared to just one million jobs under Republican administrations. He also took a jab at former President Donald Trump, criticizing his frequent mentions of fictional characters during speeches.

Clinton's appearance at the DNC marked a symbolic shift for the Democratic Party, moving away from the era of triangulation and policies like NAFTA, and towards a focus on infrastructure spending and child tax credits. 

However, Clinton also injected some humor into his address, joking about his age before taking a playful swipe at Trump's.

"The only personal vanity I want to assert is that I'm still younger than Donald Trump," Clinton quipped.

Clinton, who turned 78 on August 19, remains younger than Trump by about two months, as Trump celebrated his 78th birthday in June.

Reflecting on his time in office, Clinton served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. He was 46 years old when he took office in January 1993 and left at the age of 54 in 2001.

The topic of age has been a significant issue during the 2024 election cycle. Before President Joe Biden decided not to seek reelection, both Biden and Trump were scrutinized for being the oldest elected presidents during their respective terms. However, with Biden stepping aside and Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic nominee, the focus on age has somewhat diminished. Harris will turn 60 in October, while Biden will celebrate his 82nd birthday in November.
